After the untimely death of Bracken Gem at age 22 in 1914 PathFinder was called on once again to choose the ruler of the Gatelands. All were prepared for the sword to point to Modig Gem, Bracken’s cousin. Modig at age 25 was the only candidate in the Gem family that was not too young or too old to rule. At the ceremony PathFinder pointed directly at Modig. As the crowd cheered him on, Modig moved towards the stage to claim PathFinder and complete the ceremony but as he moved the sword did not follow him as expected. Instead it stayed steady pointing at a young girl that was standing directly behind Modig. The sword had chosen Modig’s 14 year sister, Shamira.
Since that time with the help of her uncle Pollack Grieves she has been an exceptional ruler. Now all grown up she has become one of the Gatelands most beloved rulers.
