The Orc Incursions
While the tribes of Orcs usually keep to themselves in the high mountain valleys to the north and east of Iskitaan, ever so often a war leader rises among them who unites several (or several dozen) tribes, and inspires incursions into human lands.
As humans have expanded throughout Iskitaan, the orcs have been pushed back, often ratcheting tensions between orc and human.
Both of the Dark Emperors used incursions of orcs to their advantage - seizing power while attentions were diverted - many times goading the orcs themselves into doing their bidding. Prior to 1164, most of these incursions were simply noted as orc wars, or various battles. But in 1165, Valanthe Laidon and several of the history professors at the University of Caspary came up with a system of naming them by the orc warleader who led them as they were documenting the most recent orc incursion into Peloi the year before.
There is probably at least one orc incursion into the lands bordering their territory once a year, these are the biggest, and most notable of them.
