Jad bin Omar bin Eman Al-Abdulkarim
The ninth of the R'rabian Sultan's fifteen sons, Jad ran away from an arranged marriage to the Sultan's chief rival Qaboos bin Hani Abdo's fifth daughter in 1025. The young lady was a "fat, ugly sow with the temperment of a rabid dog" and Jad refused to marry her. He wanted to study magic, but as the Sultan's son, this was strictly forbidden. He heard many rumours from traders that anyone could practice magic in Iskitaan ("those heathens") and so he set out for there.
He barely survived the trip through the Maelstrom, and was rescued by Lebanon. He was being pursued by several factions, and Lebanon and the Companions helped him evade them, finally sending him off to study at Kelkinal's school of magic. He went on to be a well respected instructor at the school.
