======A Conversation with Nariel======

//At the conclusion of their private conversation, which takes about an hour and a half, [[NarielEleron Nari]] will return to the tavern, where Sebastian, Rauchen, Serious and Juliet await. Once there Nari will ask all of you to join her for a drink, and to discuss your forthcoming trip. [[TalorynElendil Taloryn]] will follow just a few minutes later.//

**Nari**
So, I understand you are all looking to travel to [[Buckkeep]] and Ingram has asked me to accompany you. Can I ask why you're headed there? Taloryn has told me a little about all of you, but I'd like to hear your side of the story as well.

**Juliet**
I wouldn't say we are heading to Buckkeep with a purpose. More it is at Ingram's suggestion and we are simply trying to make our way back to Dalend and Ulder and thusly it fits our path.
//Juliet glances at Taloryn meaningfully.// As far as our story, I am not sure what should be said about that.

**Nari**
//Nari laughs lightly// Don't worry, Taloryn didn't paint a horrible picture. It's just nice to hear a different perspective. So your ultimate destination is Ulder? Does that mean you tried to find the Prophet's Pass and have given up?

**Juliet**
//Juliet is visibly more alert// Prophet's Pass? We are looking for a place called the Prophet's Valley, but we have not in anyway given up. Is it here in Danateos? We had reason to believe it was closer to Ulder. Is there anything you can share with us about this Prophet and his Valley and Pass?
//Juliet shakes her head.// I am sorry, you asked for our story and I go on badgering you with questions. Simply put, we were given a mission to help protect... Iskitaan, which involves us traveling across Iskitaan in search of tools to aid in that defense. One of the locations was called the Prophet's Valley. We were only given vague instructions. And I realize I have given an equally vague description. Much more detail would make it sound fantastical or a thing of Legends.
Each of us was specifically chosen for this mission, I believe because each one of us houses a the potential to achieve great things. //Juliet pauses, looking for approval from the others or giving them the chance to speak themselves.//

**Taloryn**
//As the conversation goes on, Taloryn is noticably quiet. She appears to be deep in thought or even struggling with emotions, you are unsure, but she is not the usually outspoken Taloyrn.//

**Nari**
So you're not aware of the Prophet's Pass? It's a local legend, really. The people of [[Danateos]] say that this area was originally explored by the Prophet Payton Soards about 800 years ago. There is supposed to be a hidden pass that makes it possible to travel straight from [[Buckkeep]] to [[Dalaeth]] and on into [[Ulder]], rather than having to go around through [[Artmont]]. Ingram says it exists, but he's not publicizing where.

**Sebastian**
//All in a rush// Could you help us to find this pass? Maybe you could travel with us at least for a little while. I would love, //blushing// I mean we would love to accept your help.

**Juliet**
I do hope you can help us with finding this pass. Or maybe help us gain Ingram's assistance in finding it, since it sounds like he may know exactly where it is.

**Nari**
If we're going to head for/look for the Prophet's Pass, then there is no sense heading northeast to Buckkeep. We will need to wait for Ingram to come back through here, however. I do not know if he will share the secret.

**Juliet**
Will he be back tonight? If he was checking out the bodies of the orcs that we ran into, I would think it is likely he won't be back till tomorrow. Is there a place that we can be put up for the night or a good place to set up our camp? I don't think I saw an inn in this town.

**Nari**
I expect him back sometime before dawn. I wouldn't leave for Buckkeep before morning anyway. You're right, there is no inn in this village, but there is a clear place between my home and the palisade you can make camp. So we can figure it out in the morning. In the meantime, tell me a little bit more about yourselves?

**Juliet**
//Blushing// I am honored that you would have us camp so close to you.
We each hail from a different area of Iskitaan. I, myself, am from Roscorin City. Sebastian here is from Dalend. The others I am sure would prefer to speak for themselves as to their origins. I am a trained physician and apothecary, just recently completing my apprenticeship. Sebastian is a noble protector and roadwarden. Taloryn. Well you have spoken to Taloryn. But I regard her as our peacekeeper and diplomat. Rauchen can always find the best ale house in the city. And Serious and Champ... //Juliet pauses to look at Serious. Champ is not present.// are both good folk to have at your side and watch your back.
And I suppose if it will garner your aid and perhaps Ingram's, I have no problem telling you the story of our journey thus far. Although there is the question of if we wish for the whole town to hear this story...

**Taloryn**
//Taloryn suddenly perks up as if she had a sudden thought or idea. She glances over at Nari as if it is something that she can only discuss with her.//

**Nari**
//Matches Taloryn's glance, and Taloryn's eyes widen in surprise.// From what Taloryn has told me, I don't see why you should fear what the town knows or not. As strangers, you're already the talk of the town, leaving with me and/or Ingram will only fuel that.

**Juliet**
Well then... I suppose our story will get out at some point... I just assumed it would be after we had accomplished something of note.

Well it all started for us when Taloryn, Sebastian, I and one other were each plucked from our homes one evening late in April following the sound of a mystical horn.

The four of us appeared together in a room, and the only thing that we figured we had in common was a small rectangular gold pendant with words in Enshallen script. I believe each of us had this pendant for years. We tried not to think anything of the pendants as we made our way out of the ruined farmstead that we had appeared inside of.

We traveled for a time and heard the same horn calling to us just before we found a group of gypsy’s. They took us in for the night and shared their provisions with us. The matron of the group told each of our fortunes that night. The summary of each was great sacrifice before beginning a new life. Which I think for each of us has held true. Our fourth decided to stay behind with the Gypsy’s, something was calling to her to stay there.

As we traveled, we kept running across more and more of these coins or pendants. As if someone had laid them in our path. As we translated the pendants, they spoke of a great force threatening the land and the infant king. We assumed that we were chosen to be a part of stopping this force, but we decided we needed more information. After a few inquiries, we traveled to Caspary by way of Balutor.

While in Balutor we did a favor for the Queen by purging a nest of Black Slashers from one of her towns. //(Insert description of Black Slashers)// They seem to be coming from the sea, but should they get this far inland it was discovered that burning lemon grass will repel them. We also met the other half of our group on Balutor. Rauchen, Serious and Champ; all of whom proved invaluable in clearing out the nest. //There is a sadness in Juliet’s voice as she speaks of Balutor.// We invited them to journey with us as a good sword is always welcome.

We arrived in Caspary and spent a few days there. It took some work to get the list of pendants that they had. We heard of some troubles in the north and wanted to investigate further because it had the ring of being connected to our mission. About this time we discovered a device that could teleport us to a distant location that is connected to the device.

We used it and found ourselves on Risen Nueshalla. Where upon arriving we discovered a wall that had each of our likeness, all six of us, promenently carved upon it and signed by Valexende. Upon the top of the wall had the line “The Keys of the Future are Passion and Reason. Which will you follow?”

Also on Nueshalla we found another teleporter that brought us here. Or rather up at the lake further north. We can only assume that we were put on this path to meet you and Ingram and so that we can find the Prophet’s Pass and from there the Prophet’s Valley.

//Juliet might embelish the story with a bit more detail than this gives, but she would leave out anything that didn't directly relate to their journey, (ie Hugh, the letters, Cassia, the bandits, Lars) glazing over passing through Thames and Roscorin, and failing to mention Wrenkirk entirely. And yes she is purposely leaving out any party conflict.//

**Nari**
//As Juliet tells the story, Nari looks around at everyone to see their reactions to the above//. Interesting. If I recall correctly, Valexende is the same person who did the royal docks fresco in Sakersport. And since that is also the birth place of Payton Soards, I'll bet you can find your Prophet's valley by heading there.

**Note:** I thought it might be good to get the bulk of this conversation out of the way between now and next session.
